Open the window, or knock the damn door?
Hey friends,
I stumbled upon this super cool analogy in a video I watched, and boy, did it hit home! Let me share it with you.
So, picture this - there are two types of folks out there. Some are what we call "window-openers". These guys, when they're figuring out what to do with their time, they want to peek through a window first. If they can spot the outcome they're after on the other side, they pop that window open and hop right through.
But here's the thing - for most of the good stuff in life, the path to success isn't exactly crystal clear, you know? There's no conveniently open window with your dream scenario waiting on the other side.
Nah, the real juicy outcomes? They're usually hiding behind doors. We've gotta roll up our sleeves and knock on a bunch of different doors to see what's hiding behind each one. And that's where our second type of people come in - the "door-knockers". These people are the ones who jump at different opportunities. They might not see an instant, guaranteed payoff, but they go for it anyway, treating it as a chance to learn something new.
As time rolls on, these door-knockers end up doing a ton of stuff that amps up their skills, experience and leverage. They're out there speaking at events, blogging their hearts out, sharing their journey online and picking up fresh skills. Now, on its own, one of these things might not lead to anything groundbreaking. But when you look at the bigger picture? These door-knockers are expanding their playground for potential awesome outcomes.
So, here's a little food for thought - when you're making decisions about what to do next, are you just peeking through windows, or are you going to knock a bunch of doors too?
Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Have a great week!
